There are reports of ppl having this issue with POP3. But my parents are getting it through loading a HTML web page which retrieves pictures from https:// sites.
Disabling the domain (/etc/hosts) to which the https:// links refer works around the problem. However, this HTML mail uses the https:// domain to collect pictures for products. Downgrading libgrypt11 to a version prior of 1.5.0 fixes this regression. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #640123 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=640123 ** Also affects: claws-mail (Debian) via http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=640123 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Also affects: midori Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1009099 Title: claws-mail assert failure: claws-mail: /build/buildd/cairo-1.10.2/src /cairo-surface.c:1287: cairo_surface_set_device_offset: Assertion `status == CAIRO_STATUS_SUCCESS' failed.
