Public bug reported: Using the card reader on my desktop my SD card's size is incorrectly displayed, on my laptop it works fine (also above 1GB, it's not a fake card).
The card is a 2 GB card, phys geom is H 48 S 47 C 1686 My desktop reports half the size and half the cylinder count, using fdisk to fix it did not resolve the problem (when I enter the correct values no matter how the size and total sector count does not get updated. When the card is inserted this is in my dmesg: [ 3077.851981] sdd: detected capacity change from 974127104 to 0 [ 3084.533486] sd 6:0:0:2: [sdd] 1902592 512-byte logical blocks: (974 MB/929 MiB) [ 3084.545469] sd 6:0:0:2: [sdd] Asking for cache data failed [ 3084.545482] sd 6:0:0:2: [sdd] Assuming drive cache: write through [ 3084.567424] sd 6:0:0:2: [sdd] Asking for cache data failed [ 3084.567436] sd 6:0:0:2: [sdd] Assuming drive cache: write through [ 3084.577419] sdd: sdd1 [ 3084.577486] sdd: p1 size 3803136 extends beyond EOD, truncated Card reader lsusb output: Bus 005 Device 002: ID 04fc:5602 Sunplus Technology Co., Ltd Card reader dmesg:[ 3282.599342] usb 5-4: USB disconnect, device number 2 [ 3322.769149] usb 5-4: new full-speed USB device number 3 using ohci_hcd [ 3322.937861] usb 5-4: New USB device found, idVendor=04fc, idProduct=5602 [ 3322.937872] usb 5-4: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 [ 3322.937879] usb 5-4: Product: 7-in-1 [ 3322.937885] usb 5-4: Manufacturer: IMGSYS-3 [ 3322.937889] usb 5-4: SerialNumber: 030704M000123 [ 3322.942346] scsi7 : usb-storage 5-4:1.0 Kernel versions affected: all from 12.04, from 12.10 and latest mainline ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete ** Attachment added: "dmesg" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1076122/+attachment/3426938/+files/dmesg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1076122 Title: SD card reports wrong size To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1076122/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
