Public bug reported: This is a feature request.
Current Ubuntu desktop image has different modes when pressing F4. 1. Normal 2. Use driver update disc 3. OEM install (for manufacturers) Could we add a new mode called "Ubuntu on-disk installer" or other wording? The difference between "Ubuntu on-disk installer" and "OEM install (for manufacturers)" is that "Ubuntu on-disk installer" will transfer Ubuntu desktop image and install it to the first partition by default (can be preseeded with other value). And "Ubuntu on-disk installer" will install a little application to make the end users able to trigger "Ubuntu on-disk installer" from their desktop environment to reinstall and overwrite the existing Ubuntu system without Ubuntu desktop image. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1075041 Title: Ubuntu on-disk installer.
