Public bug reported: In 12.04, when I plug in a USB stick it is shown as a USB icon in the laucher. A media player is displayed as a media player icon.
When I select "Safely Remove" the light on the stick (and USB hub if plugged into a hub) go off. This is the expected behaviour. In 12.10, some USB sticks are displayed as a combined USB/floppy icon. My media player is displayed as a USB icon. There is no longer a "Safely Remove" option in 12.10. If I select "Eject", neither the light on the stick or hub go off. One of my drives will re-appear on the launcher after I eject it. The drives which show incorrect icons are all SanDisk: Cruzer Micro (0781:5406) Cruzer Micro (0781:5151) and the media player is: Sansa E260 (0781:7421) The usual dialog asking what to do when a media player is inserted is not displayed in 12.10 as it was in 12.04. The drive that is re-mounted is an old Lexar 64MB Jumpdrive (05dc:0080). ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1073597 Title: Incorrect behaviour of USB devices on the launcher in 12.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1073597/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
