This is an off-topic rant, but I think gnome-app-install _needs_ some added complexity - I don't use it because it abstracts away the notion of packages, and doesn't provide access to any underlying package related information, like the package name (how is the user supposed to know that there are docs in /usr/share/doc/<package> without this vital info?). It is true that there are many users who are ignorant of the fact that there are docs there, or of the different licenses packages can come with, but if the tools that are designed for those users make that information easily available (striking a balance between simplicity and functionality), those users will become aware of it much more quickly. I can file a couple of specific suggestions as bugs against gnome-app-install, if you want.
