there are a couple of annoying bugs in paraview, which ships with Precise 12.04 (possibly 12.10 is affected as well). It would be good to have them fixed. I have prepared a debdiff, which fixes a crash during loading of STL-ascii files and removes a lot of warning messages during startup (LP: #995949). Please, consider uploading these changes. Patch is attached. Binaries can also be reviewed on PPA [1] ( paraview - 3.14.1-2precise1).
