You have been subscribed to a public bug: Every call to update-initramfs ended stuck on the first line:
# update-initramfs -u update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-3.5.0-18-generic [stuck here] Looking at the running processes gave me this: # ps aux | grep initram root 21065 0.0 0.0 4396 616 pts/8 S+ 21:50 0:00 /bin/sh -e /etc/kernel/postinst.d/initramfs-tools 3.5.0-18-lowlatency /boot/vmlinuz-3.5.0-18-lowlatency root 21067 0.0 0.0 4396 616 pts/8 S+ 21:50 0:00 /bin/sh /usr/sbin/update-initramfs -c -t -k 3.5.0-18-lowlatency -b /boot root 21069 3.0 0.0 4516 856 pts/8 S+ 21:50 0:00 /bin/sh /usr/sbin/mkinitramfs -o /boot/initrd.img-3.5.0-18-lowlatency.new 3.5.0-18-lowlatency root 26554 0.0 0.0 4396 772 pts/8 S+ 21:50 0:00 /bin/sh /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/framebuffer root 26653 0.0 0.0 4396 376 pts/8 S+ 21:50 0:00 /bin/sh /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/framebuffer root 26657 0.0 0.0 9444 936 pts/6 R+ 21:50 0:00 grep --color=auto initram Suspecting that something was wrong with the FRAMEBUFFER option in initramfs, I removed the « FRAMEBUFFER=y » of my config file. Then, I was able to use again update-initramfs without getting stuck and to upgrade my kernel. Thanks. ** Affects: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- update-initramfs stuck after quantal upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1070529 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
