I followed the instructions at the isigth firmware tool website. So I
run:

$ sudo ift-extract -a AppleUSBVideoSupport

... where AppleUSBVideoSupport is a file I copied as indicated from
/System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBVideoSupport.kext/Contents/MacOS/

(The MacOSX version has always been 10.6)

I rebooted the machine and isight still didn't work (testing with
cheese, skype, and google chat).

I tried the above after my usual procedure to get isight working failed:

This macbookpro 5,5 has had a working ubuntu Lucid for a while, but the only
way to get isight to work was to:
1. shutdown
2. boot into macosx, open photo booth
3. reboot into ubuntu Lucid

... but after the last updates (last two weeks or so) the procedure
above stopped working.

Any suggestions on how to get iSight to work very appreciated.
