Public bug reported: I just installed Xubuntu Tribe2 on my thinkpad using the alternate iso. On first boot my D-link DWL-G630 was lit saying that it was working correctly but was not connected to or scanning for a network. When I got into XFCE the restricted driver box confirmed that the Atheros driver was loaded. However, it would not connect to networks with iwconfig. I found that the /etc/network/interfaces file did not contain any settings for my card (pcmcia and shows up as ath0 under iwconfig), I copied over the interfaces file from my old xubuntu installation and now networking works perfectly.
The lines for ath0 are auto ath0 iface ath0 inet dhcp wireless-essid any ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- WiFi is not autoconfigured https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/123502 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
