Public bug reported:

My laptop sometimes freezes or crashes on boot. It often happens after
a possibly unrelated unsuccessful resume, but once it's started
happening, it keeps happening. Sometimes it cures itself, but I've
discovered that I can boot successfully by disconnecting the power from
the laptop while it's off, reconnecting it, and turning it on.

I seem to be able to induce the crash by booting into recovery mode and
starting networking.  I can do other things in recovery mode, like fsck;
it seems to be the networking that is causing the crash.

Sometimes there's kernel panic information shown on the screen before it
automatically reboots, but I haven't figured out which log file this is
saved in, if any.

I didn't have these crashes when I used Lucid on the same laptop, but I
did suffer from this:
