** Description changed:

  After installing the last updates available via update manager (7th Sept) the 
unity desktop has become very unstable.
- It seems to restart it self(about about an hour of use from reboot). I loose 
the min/max controls on each window and keyboard stops functioning so can't do 
restart from a terminal and forced to do reboot.
+ It becomes unusable  after an hour of use from reboot. I loose the min/max

a terminal and forced to do reboot.
  Also coming back from a suspend I do not get a password dialogue so am forced 
to reboot.
+ Before above happens I can 't start any applications either from sidebar or 
alt/F2

+ This is a show stopper for me as I have to reboot every hour.
