Thanks for your bugreport. The output that software-center gets from aptdaemon is different from running lintian directly as aptdaemon implements its own lintian profile).
I just looked at this and downloaded the latest chrome. I get the following output in "Details": """ Lintian check results for /tmp/google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb: E: google-chrome-stable: file-in-etc-not-marked-as-conffile etc/cron.daily/google-chrome """ and in the logfile: 2012-09-10 16:19:58,545 - softwarecenter.backend - ERROR - error in _on_trans_finished 'Error: The package is of bad quality The installation of a package which violates the quality standards isn't allowed. This could cause serious problems on your computer. Please contact the person or organisation who provided this package file and include the details beneath. Lintian check results for /tmp/google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb: E: google-chrome-stable: file-in-etc-not-marked-as-conffile etc/cron.daily/google-chrome I also tried to reproduce it using your locale settings but got the same result. Is this still reproduceable for you with the latest aptdaemon update (there was a new version recently)? ** Changed in: software-center (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1047419 Title: Reporting package as bad quality with no output from lintian To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/1047419/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
