That could be done by NetworkManager, but is certainly not a bug. Some other application running on your machine or another machine on your network is advertising that it is a DNS resolver; which gets NetworkManager to add it to /etc/resolv.conf; or an application on your system is editing /etc/resolv.conf itself.
Please seek the help of your network administrator to figure out what might be going wrong here; or you can always ask on AskUbuntu.com for help from the community. Since this is not a bug; I'm closing this report as Invalid. ** Project changed: network-manager => network-manager (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1043599 Title: ping: unknown host intermittent To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1043599/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
