@Thomas Hood (jdthood): yes, I have to run it after installation, accept defaults and it's all good after that. NOTE: the installer ISO has no problem connecting though. I think it might have to do with Ubiquity installer not doing it as the last step and skipping the reconfiguration of resolvconf. Just a guess...
