Here's the Xorg.log (The problem has been established as being a failure of psmouse.ko to detect the protocol of this model of touchpad as synaptics. Once the kernel has failed in that way, X doesn't have a chance. The fix is going to be a change to that kernel module. I've previously provided serio debug output which should enable someone to see where the code is going astray, although it won't tell us how this protocol works. In the case of a similar problem with ALPS, I think it turned out to use an existing protocol variant but with a novel identification sequence.) I'd be happy to load a psmouse.ko with extra instrumentation or a fix, but I'm not likely to dive into building a module myself. Cheers Ed
