Public bug reported:

Bug #89860 was marked as Won't Fix, because it was filed against a
series that is no longer supported, but I noticed it in 10.04 and it
still exists in 12.04.

acpi_listen does not detect any activity when the lid button is pushed.

It seems a problem that affects many HP laptops.
For me (HP NC6320) status of the button is in /proc/acpi/video/C083/DOS

I fixed this bug in 10.04 Lucid, by putting the following lines (both
needed, in this order!) into /etc/rc.local

echo 1 > /proc/acpi/video/C083/DOS
echo 0 > /proc/acpi/video/C083/DOS

However, after dist-upgrade to 12.04.1 this trick does not work anymore.

     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
