That's probably because the USB printer driver was loaded which in turn
means that at least the mode switch was successful.

To see in more detail what is happening when you re-plug the printer,
call the "dmesg" shell command afterwards.

For printing, you might have to ask at a different place; I don't know
anything about that. Just to clear things up: me and Draisberghof are
identical ... It's my web site.
