I don't know it for sure, but with the previous tests I heard no sound coming 
from the sub with the rear left test signal, but did with the rear right. The 
sub connector has 4 wires: 2 connected to the sub's voice coil and the two 
others to a resistor (I think dummy load, could be used for dectection of sub 
presence on the left channel). Ah wait... while writing the previous sentence 
the next idea rose: both channels might be (able to be) used. But because the 
left channel is hooked up to a resistor it off course cannot be heard. So still 
(L+R) might be used...
