It's hard to say, if the bug is present, since I have no access to a VPN
server that gives out it's own DNS records anymore. Maybe someone with
an access can test?
But since Ubuntu has moved to internal DNS resolver, I suppose this
should be fixed now.

The icon when connecting to VPN (and after the connection is
estabilshed) is super-ulgy though if you're using mobile broadband or
ethernet: it looks like ethernet conection icon with faint wifi icon
over it and a lock in a corner.
