Hi, This bug also seems to affect "Precise":
I am logged in as a user in an administrative group. The administrative group is then configured to have full "sudo" access. if I run software-center from the command line, I see this printed to the terminal: 2012-08-17 17:08:11,142 - softwarecenter.ui.gtk3.app - INFO - found a running software-center on dbus, reconnecting brisbane@pplxdt08:~/scbr$ software-center 2012-08-17 17:08:17,739 - softwarecenter.ui.gtk3.app - INFO - setting up proxy 'None' 2012-08-17 17:08:17,744 - softwarecenter.db.database - INFO - open() database: path=None use_axi=True use_agent=True 2012-08-17 17:08:17,934 - softwarecenter.backend.reviews - WARNING - Could not get usefulness from server, no username in config file 2012-08-17 17:08:18,249 - softwarecenter.db.pkginfo_impl.aptcache - INFO - aptcache.open() 2012-08-17 17:08:23,126 - softwarecenter.ui.gtk3.app - INFO - software-center-agent finished with status 0 2012-08-17 17:08:23,127 - softwarecenter.db.database - INFO - reopen() database 2012-08-17 17:08:23,127 - softwarecenter.db.database - INFO - open() database: path=None use_axi=True use_agent=True If I run gksudo software-center, I see nothing printed to the command line, but the install option is still grayed out. The actions I perform once I open software center is to Click "audacity" from the "top rated" section, and then see that it cannot be installed. I have also tried going through the other menus to try to install Audacity (and other packages). If I navigate via the package groups to find audacity, or search for it, the insall button is not grayed out, but when I click it it does nothing. If I use the "file" menu in software-center, packages can be installed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/919841 Title: The software center shows applications to install but the install button is greyed out.
