>From the contents of VarLogDistupgradeTermlog.gz , you are hitting bug 728864, which has been fixed in more recent releases of Samba 4. Take a look there to learn more. You could run a newer Ubuntu than 11.04, it looks 12.04 would do it. But if you need to run 11.04 for now, the workaround discussed in that report is to purge the samba4 package, then reinstall. I don't see any mention of loss of data, but if you have any samba configuration files that would be laborious to re-create, probably keep a copy just in case, before doing the: sudo apt-get purge samba4 sudo apt-get install samba4 Hope this helps. Thanks. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 728864 did not find base dn during startup -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1037739 Title: package samba4 4.0.0~alpha17~git20110807.dfsg1-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba4/+bug/1037739/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
