Hi. The geogebra package in Ubuntu (just like the one in Debian, which is the same) build-depends on default-jdk, not on any particular JDK or version. Thus the mismatch here is between what default-jdk depends on and what alternatives are set up to launch when the user want a JVM. This is something the Ubuntu Java team will have to solve, I really cannot do anything.
What I might consider is to modify the build system so it generates 1.5 or 1.6 compatible classes. I'll think about it, but would like to stress that the real bug here is not in GeoGebra, but in the management of default Java versions.
