Today's live dvd build for Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) still has this bug, although it does seem as if you have to do a little more than just increasing and decreasing the brightness (you have to increase and decrease it rapidly, kind of agressively), but maybe it just seems that way to me.
I do agree that this is a rather serious problem. Not being able to increase or decrease the brightness on a laptop seriously affects battery life (as I am stuck on maximum brightness), almost to the point where it is becoming a problem for use during class, which is my laptops main purpose (and I opted for the extra large battery, so I can't even imagine what it's like for people with the normal battery). So I do hope this will be fixed as soon as possible, hopefully at least by 12.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1007765 Title: brightness adjusting crashes system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1007765/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
