Yes, the bug is usually experienced by an unexpected appearence of the login screen. However, the bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /xorg-server/+bug/956071 is a bit unprecise because it's hijacked, it first was a result of running minecraft, but later on others 'reproduce' the bug in conicidence of standby mode, so I think there are actually two reasons. However, that bug is now related to standby mode, so there there are people working on it.
