Public bug reported: 1) Run Ubuntu 12.04 (64-bit) as guest OS under Oracle VirtualBox (v4.1.18). Host OS is also Ubuntu 12.04 (64-bit). Both the OS have latest software updates applied.
2) Close the VM, and when prompted, choose to save the VM state. 3) After some time, resume the VM. Notice that the date/ time in guest Ubuntu starts from where it was last updated in step 2 above if network connection is disabled or if the date/ time update option is manual update as opposed to update from Internet. In contrast, Windows XP guest OS running under the same environment does update its date/ time to the current one irrespective of the network availability under guest OS! Not sure of the root cause. I suspect Windows is able to figure out new time based on some input from the VirtualBox VM that Ubuntu fails to cater to? ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: date guest time update virtualbox vm -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1032886 Title: Resumed as guest OS does not update time (Windows XP does!)
