Public bug reported: Today's ISO test (2nd August), AMD64 image, Desktop install, on the "Install, Who are you?" screen. I entered several valid machine names that I know does not exist on my small home network in the "Your computer's name:" field and I always got the error messages in red: "That name already exists on the network.".
This is wrong and misleading. A novice user may then keep on trying to find a unique machine name and then give up with the install if they keep on getting clashing name error messages. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1032175 Title: ubiquity: install screen "Who are you" finds my machine name on the network even on names that don't exist To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1032175/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
