Note - I have a somewhat-longstanding thread on this issue (wrt my VPCZ112GDS) on the alsa-devel list:
http://mailman.alsa-project.org/pipermail/alsa- devel/2012-March/050492.html is where it started back in March, and: http://mailman.alsa-project.org/pipermail/alsa- devel/2012-July/053561.html is where it picks up this month. tiwai has posted a patch that seems to fix it, though I don't know if it takes all the complexities discussed in this report into account.
