Update: tried installing the latest Nvidia Drivers 304.22 and it has fixed the issue I was having with waking up from suspend to a blank black screen however there are still major peformance issues. This affects many different Nvidia drivers and is partially due to the Ubuntu 3.2.0-27-generic Kernel.
My latest Xorg log backtrace: [ 16170.502] [mi] EQ overflowing. Additional events will be discarded until existing events are processed.
