** Description changed:

  After upgrading just the kernel from Ubuntu 12.04 to Quantal (linux-
  image-3.5.0-5-generic 3.5.0-5.5) the external monitor connected to the
  docking station is not detected either automatically or when I click
  Displays | Detect Displays.
  
  Computer is the ThinkPad X220 with Intel HD Graphics 3000 in ThinkPad
  Mini Dock Series 3.
  
  Monitor is the Samsung SyncMaster 223BW connected via DVI port on the
  Mini Dock.
