I'm not sure why you mention all of the other usb devices.  The error
with the usb disk was this:

I believe that "disk IO error" means just that, rather than a corrupt
database.  Since you deleted the file, there's no way to tell now.  It
would have been much more helpful to rename the file for testing so you
would still have the original.
