My sad story had a happy ending... I wanted to use an external monitor for giving presentations with an HP dv4000 laptop running Edgy. The output was extremely wavy with i810switch, so I followed the instructions here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HowtoSetupExternalMonitorForIntel915 The mouse froze when logging in with a cloned display, but otherwise things looked good. When I skipped the screenlock by adding the "-l" option to gdmflexiserver, everything worked great. That doesn't sound too bad, but it took several hours of chasing down blind alleys and trying things that didn't help. -- Synaptics touchpad not enabled for second X display https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/68370 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
