I think it was the same with 12.04 LTS amd64 too. I don't have that laptop anymore, and I'm back to using the MSI Wind with 10.04 i386 that was used in the original bug report 2 years ago. I'll try to do some testing once I have a spare machine with 12.04 (possibly next week).
