Installed 1.5.3-0ubuntu2 from precise-proposed. Cycled printer off/on & unplugged/replugged USB cable. Confirmed usblp module was not blacklisted and was loaded. Tested printer with files that had previously generated errors in testing. (LibreOffice Writer initially identified the printer as "generic printer" instead of "HL-1440-series" and seemed to be printing with a slightly different font. Closing and restarting LibreOffice Writer eliminated this problem, so I presume it was related to the fact that it was open while I did the update.) No error was generated. Changing status to verification-done, as requested error_log attached just for old time's sake.
