Hello, I can confirm same bug nVIDIA proprietary drivers, think it was caused by last xorg common and xorg server updates. However, upgrading to GIMP 2.8 (http://www.noobslab.com/2012/04/install-gimp-28-on- ubuntu-1204-precise.html) eliminates problem.
