@stefan I am surprized at your statement. I'm able to get all currently supported versions of Ubuntu to trigger a kernel dump (with appropriate patches installed).
One single issue I have noticed and still need to address is the required reserved memory needed (minimum of ~110Mb reserved by crashkernel= ) but this should be treated separately.
