Public bug reported: When opening some files gedit hangs and consume a lot of RAM memory and then swap memory. The system became unresponsive. The only solution is to kill gedit or reboot. Generally this happens with "big files", I do not know exactly the limit but probably files with more than ~5000 lines. Sometimes gedit manage to open the file, but generally it hangs. Sometimes after killing gedit firefox is also un-responsive and a pop-up window (or 2 or 3) complain about a script that is running, the name of the script running is a long strings of character with "js" extension. this firefox message appears only when gedit hangs, but sometimes gedit hangs and this firefox message do not appear.
Please let me know if you need more information. I use gedit all the time, to program and to edit files and this bug is really annoying.
