There's only one hard disk present in the machine, and is the only one detected by the BIOS.
Since then I've reinstalled and this went away. But I believe the bug is real and that grub should "intelligently" check if the partitions have changed and update menu.lst accordingly, if possible. I believe some work can also be done so the default boot option gets updated once a new kernel is installed (this has been troublesome in my mother in-law desktop, that still resists to Ubuntu, given that often I forget to revise the menu.lst after updates and she gets locked out of her familiar Windows installation) -- Wrong boot hdx,x in menu.lst https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/74486 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
