Alpha release of Quantal Quetzal from i386 iso. Bypassed both network update during install and language pack installations after install when a connection was present. Part way through the first update the system was interrupted. Afterwards, a partial update option was present. When the analysis was performed a window popped up saying the Updtate had crashed with the option to close or restart. However, the update application window was still active and (so long as you didn't look at 'terminal' or extend the window past the bottom of the screen) the option to continue the partial install worked. This fixed a variety of issues such as Firefox not launching from the launchpad and a plethora of other incidental headaches. The upshot is that the crash reported is less of a crash than it appears to be an error arising from a component that either reinstanntiates itself or that the crash status is misreported. A bit of knowledge may be dangerous in the wrong hands here. 12.10 is in Alpha stage until the fall. Incidentally, the Quantal Quetxal install was done under Oracle Virtual Box on an Athlon X2 3400+ 64 bit Windows Media Centre Edition 32 bit without support in the BIOS for virtualization as available on the chip. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- 12.10 Updater abends upon first update after install w/o connection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1013348 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
