In addition, any mount commands stall and do not respond to kill -9...
including those started at boot:

root       752   304  0 11:47 ?        00:00:00 mount -t cifs -o 
username=XX,password=XX,uid=joel,gid=users,_netdev //10.1.1.7/music /media/music

(This happened to me just after an update of the kernel and the
subsequent reboot)
