I want to ask you to do another test, so that we can find out whether we can stop blacklisting the usblp kernel module:
I have uploaded a modified CUPS package to my PPA now. Please add my PPA to your system as described on https://launchpad.net/~till-kamppeter/+archive/ppa in the section "Adding this PPA to your system" and then install the new CUPS package, preferably by simply doing a full system update. The CUPS version must be 1.5.3-0ubuntu2~ppa2. Now turn off and turn on your USB printer and re-plug the USB (with the printer turned on). Try to print. does it work now? Independent whether printing works for you now or not, reactivate the usblp kernel module by running the following two commands in a terminal window: sudo mv /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-cups-usblp.conf ~ sudo modprobe usblp Turn off and turn on your printer again and re-plug the USB (with the printer turned on). Try to print again. does it also work now? If it works, you are done. If it worked in the first test and stopped in the second, return to the configuration of the first test by running the following commands in a terminal window: sudo mv ~/blacklist-cups-usblp.conf /etc/modprobe.d/ sudo rmmod usblp -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1000253 Title: Brother HL-1440 printing extra page with PJL codes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1000253/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
