Hi, I'm currently running 12.04 LTS. I started with removing the following packages: liblzo2-2 uswsusp
I downloaded the mainline kernel packages from here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.4-precise/ Installed the following three packages: linux-headers-3.4.0-030400_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_all.deb linux-headers-3.4.0-030400-generic_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_amd64.deb linux-image-3.4.0-030400-generic_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_amd64.deb Unfortunately this kernel is very unstable at the moment on my laptop. It is not even enable to shutdown properly. When I click on hibernate in the Unity shutdown menu, it just locks the screen but does nothing else. --- I also tried hibernation with the current kernel (linux-image-3.2.0-24-generic, x86_64) with uswsusp uninstalled. Situation is the same. It sometimes resumes, but sometimes recovery hangs with a blinking underscore in the top left corner. Strange is that I can reproduce this om my wife's laptop which is a Dell Inspiron N5040: http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/201104-7783/ I experience the same, recovery hangs with a blinking underscore in the top left corner. Based on that this may be a bug which is triggered by some component on Dell laptops. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882184 Title: Dell N5110 laptop does not resume from hibernate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/882184/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
