Dear Bilal Akhtar Thank you for your e-mail, I apologise for delay in replying but I’ve been away.
I am pleased to inform you that I have sorted the problem. I remembered that I had changed the appearance background settings (Theme) from Ambiance (default) to High Contrast. I clicked back onto Ambiance or Radiance and the settings icon came back straight away onto the right hand side of the menu bar. It seems that using High Contrast or High Contrast Inverse it takes the settings icon away from the menu bar. Perhaps this will teach me to stop messing around with default settings. I am glad to say everything seems to be back to normal. Yours sincerely Alan Wills P.S. I have a left-side launcher on my screen. -----Original Message----- From: Bilal Akhtar Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2012 1:59 AM To: alan_wil...@msn.com Subject: [Bug 996740] Re: lost settings icon top right of menu bar sinceupdating to ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my laptop Are you using the new Unity environment, or the GNOME Panel classic environment?
