Thanks for this report. It is checking the type, and throwing an exception -- this is not a crash or undesired behavior. (The mosh-server is only supposed to spit out numeric port numbers, so running the client with something else is considered evil input.)
We will make the error message clearer, but this situation generally indicates a programming error or attack.
