Public bug reported: I suspect this is a bug in the kernel. Bug report initated from http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424306, but they rejected it saying it's most likely a driver problem.
There seems to be a problem for nm to interpret the signal strength of my NIC (which is a zydas chipset). Interestingly enough, iwconfig reports the signal strength correctly, but nm-applet shows all the networks at 100%. I will attach a screenshot that explains a lot better than I do. Steps to reproduce: plug in a zydas-based network card Actual results: 100% signal quality displayed on all networks Expected results: see 100% for 380 and 76% for "default" Other information: $ lsusb Bus 003 Device 007: ID 0ace:1211 ZyDAS 802.11b/g USB2 WiFi $ lsmod Module Size Used by zd1211rw 52868 0 $ uname -r 2.6.20-13-generic note: this also happens on Gutsy Tribe 1 ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- zydas wireless cards report 100% quality signal https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120622 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
