There is no evidence of a bug here yet. You're getting logs reporting
that the connecton was terminated because of a short read on GRE
packets, and timeouts. I'd suggest looking at whether the underlying
connections are properly established first -- for instance, wlan0
appears to be getting turned up while you're connecting to the vpn, so
maybe the default route is changing?
