Public bug reported: I have a dvd (batman begins) that is encoded with Dolby Digital. I have selected 5.1 in Totem's audio property tab, but upon playing the movie, I can see in pavucontrol and in totem's media property dialog that it is only being decoded as stereo. If I play the same dvd with mplayer or vlc it is correctly decoded into 5.1.
HOWEVER: Some dvds do correctly decode into 5.1. The one that worked for me is "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (brendan fraser). Encoded with dolby digital, but totem decided to decode this one correctly. Am I missing some libraries or something? ubuntu-restricted-extras is installed and so are all of the gstreamer plugins. I'm assuming this is a bug, so thus this report :) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: libgstreamer0.10-0 0.10.36-1ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-24.37-generic 3.2.14 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-24-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu7 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun May 13 15:40:05 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Beta amd64 (20120301) SourcePackage: gstreamer0.10 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: gstreamer0.10 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/998871 Title: Totem not correctly decoding Dolby Digital audio into 5.1 surround To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gstreamer0.10/+bug/998871/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
