1) Purge OpenJDK $ sudo apt-get purge openjdk-\* icedtea-\* icedtea6-\* 2) Install Oracle Java * http://www.webupd8.org/2012/01/install-oracle-java-jdk-7-in-ubuntu-via.html This is unfortunate considering that OpenJDK is the official Java SE 7 reference implementation [1], but there you have it.
