Same symptoms on fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 on Latitude E5400.

I did manually the following and wireless now is working as expected:

sudo apt-get remove bcmwl-kernel-source
sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-lpphy-installer
