I have the same problem (created a screenshot of it). I opened the search box, looked up for text editor, drag/dropped the text editor icon to the launch bar, and now there is an empty space between the icons. If I click the empty space it opened the text editor, but I expect to see the text editor icon there. Running final version of 12.04LTS 64 bit.
