@brian, My installation finished successfully with sudo ubiquity --no-migration-assistant, so I am quite sure it is the migration assistant. You are welcome to install ubuntu on a device with UFS partition and see if you bump into this issue. I am quite sure you will. I am also quite sure that it is not so common that ubuntu is installed side by side along FreeBSD, after all, I admit FreeBSD is an esoteric OS.
